Profiles

Kaileigh:

I'm 21 years old and currently going to the University of Manitoba, working on the 4th year of my science degree.  I am majoring in microbiology and zoology.  My degree will include all pre-requisits for chiropractic college as I plan to attend Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa.  I'm very interested in lifestyle wellness and nutrition.

I love sports and when I'm not curling, I enjoy fastball, volleyball and basketball.  This summer I played for MB Senior A Women's Magic Fastball and made the playoffs at Nationals here in Winnipeg.  Fastball fits well with the curling season and I'm glad I get to curl for 8 months of the year cause it's my true passion!

Kristen:

I'm 27 years old and work as a farm production advisor with Manitoba Agriculture Food and Rural Initiatives.  I just started this job in September, for the past five seasons I was an agronomist working for Westman Aerial Spraying in Douglas.  I truly appreciate all of the support the agricultural industry has given me.

When I am not curling I love doing anything outdoors!!!  I am not very good at sitting down and relaxing I prefer to be busy!!  I love playing baseball, golfing, badminton and swimming.  I also really enjoy cooking , baking and entertaining friends.  My mother was a great cook and I am trying to follow in her footsteps!!

Curling truly is a passion of mine..... I have loved it from the moment I was old enough to understand.  I grew up in the community of Roseland, and Roseland's claim to fame is that we have the only one sheet curling club that still functions in manitoba.  There are only three CCA affiliated one-sheet curling clubs in Canada.  My great grandpa donated the land to the community so that they could build a curling rink, if the land does not function as a curling rink for even one year than it is to be returned to farm land.  The curling club is what keeps our community going.  The Roseland Community has been wonderful supporters of my curling endeavors.

My list of accomplishments include:2000 Provincial Finalist, 2002 Manitoba Junior Champion (4th at Nationals) 2002 University Champion (Silver Medalist at Nationals) 2003 Manitoba Mixed Champion (4th at Nationals) 2004 University Champion (Silver Medalist at Nationals) 2006 Manitoba Mixed Champion (Silver Medalist at Nationals) 2007 Manitoba Women's Champion (Bronze Medalist at Nationals) 2008 Provincial Finalist.  I have had great success on the Manitoba Curling Tour as well.  I have played many positions in my years of curling but look forward to playing third for Team PowerYield!

Leslie:

I'm 29 years old and just returned from a backpacking trip in Europe!  I am also gearing up to start a new job at Atomic Energy of Canada Limited in Pinawa, Manitoba as an Environmental Specialist.  When I am not curling I enjoy hiking and all other outdoor activities.  I also enjoy travel and am already dreaming about my next trip.

I started curling when I was 12 years old at Elmwood Curling Club in Winnipeg, Manitoba.  In past years I played second for Team Jenion and was a Provincial Scott Tournament of Hearts Finalist in 2005 and 2006.

Raunora:

I'm 32 years old and work as an Account Manager for National Leasing in Winnipeg.  I've been with the company for 10 years and appreciate the support that they give in allowing me the time to curl competitively.

Outside of work and curling, I play ultimate frisbee and golf in the summer, I love to travel and I can often be heard talking about my latest home renovation.  They never seem to end in older houses!

For the last few years, I've played Lead for Team Jenion and saw much success: Going to Nationals as the 1996 MB Junior Women's Champion, 2-Time MB Runner up at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts, 2-Time Semi-Finalist and chosen as the All-Star Lead at the MB Scott in 2006.

Ron:

I'm 63 years old and currently work as the Manitoba Territory Manager for Pearson Education Canada.  Besides my accomplishments in curling, I've also had success in pitching for the Sports Traders World Champion 55+ Slow Pitch team in 2003 and the Canadian Championship in 2007.  With the busy schedule and coaching Team PowerYield, I still fit a little family time in too.

Thank you for your interest in Team PowerYield!
